At WMSA, we believe that success builds confidence — and confidence fuels even greater success. To give our students the best opportunity, we integrate academic competitions directly into our curriculum. These are extensions of our rigours training.
Competitions
| AMC (American Mathematics Competitions) |
Nationally recognized math contests that challenge tudents with creative, high-level problem-solving. Success in AMC exams can lead to prestigious invitations like AIME and the USA Math Olympiad. |
| Los Angeles County Science & Engineering Fair (LACSEF) |
A premier regional science competition where students design and present original research projects. Top winners advance to the California State Science Fair and potentially ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair). |
| National Science Bowl |
A fast-paced quiz competition hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy, testing deep knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, math, and Earth sciences. Emphasizes teamwork, speed, and breadth of understanding. |
| Hackathons |
Intensive coding and innovation events where students collaborate to build software or hardware solutions to real-world problems. Participants develop technical skills, creativity, and collaborative experience in a competitive setting. |

Clubs & Activities
Debate Club
Develops students’ public speaking, argumentation, and critical thinking through structured debates, mock trials, and competition prep. Members engage with current events and ethical dilemmas while refining persuasive communication
Math Club
A space for math enthusiasts to explore advanced topics, solve challenging problems, and prepare for contests like the AMC and Math Olympiad. Emphasizes logical reasoning, collaboration, and mathematical creativity.
Science Bowl Club
Trains students for the National Science Bowl through buzzer-based drills, team challenges, and deep dives into science topics. Members build both rapid recall and conceptual depth across STEM disciplines.
Coding Club
Fosters programming skills through collaborative projects, coding challenges, and participation in hackathons. Students explore languages like Python and Java while learning to build apps, games, and automation tools.
