About Ms. Byun

College Counseling, Academic Planning & Student Pathways

Ms. Sue Byun brings more than 20 years of experience in college counseling, academic planning, and student guidance to Windsor Math & Science Academy. Over the course of her career, she has helped guide more than 100 students to admission at Ivy League and other top-tier universities, including Harvard and MIT.

At WMSA, Ms. Byun helps families think beyond the next grade level. Her work focuses on long-term student development, helping students build strong academic foundations, meaningful extracurricular direction, and the discipline needed to succeed in competitive educational environments.

Her leadership is especially valuable for middle school families because she understands how early academic habits, course placement, competition experience, writing ability, and personal growth can shape future high school and college opportunities.

Impact

Why Her Experience Matters

Middle school is not too early to begin building strong academic direction. Ms. Byun's experience in college counseling gives WMSA families a broader perspective on how students grow over time — not only through grades, but through discipline, intellectual curiosity, communication skills, leadership, and meaningful achievement.

Her work helps ensure that WMSA students are not simply taking advanced classes, but developing the habits and direction needed for long-term success.

Philosophy

Leadership Philosophy

Start Early, Build Carefully

Strong student profiles are built over years through consistent academic habits, meaningful activities, and thoughtful guidance.

Develop the Whole Student

Selective schools look for more than test scores. Students need curiosity, character, communication skills, leadership, and resilience.

Guide Families Clearly

Families benefit from honest, experienced guidance about academic choices, student development, and future opportunities.

“The strongest students are not built in one year. They are shaped through years of guidance, discipline, curiosity, and meaningful challenge.”
